Default Water pump leakage

Hi all, hoping enjoying the festive break.
question for you all, my water pump leaks but only if I don't use the car for a week or two...
hasn't leaked all summer
it's as if the seals need to be constantly used?
using pink coolant.
regards

Is it leaking from the weep hole? Generally, a brand new pump will leak a tiny bit when first started, but that goes away. If it's leaking regularly and it's older, with higher mileage, the pump should be replaced.

It will be under the main pulley dead center. Might be hard to see, if you can find a telescoping mirror that could help. It most likely WILL be leaking from that point, but there's always a chance it could leak from where it mounts to the block or from the thermostat housing.

Thanks,
due to my very tight water pump clearances, been looking at Davies Craig 150 esp which would remote mount it. Anyone installed one or had issues with cooling at higher rpm?

Never used one, myself. But I've heard they're good. This is a swap vehicle, I take it?

Very nice, I've always liked those. I would have thought they'd have ample room for a water pump in there. What accessory spacing do you run on your engine? Truck, F-body, or Corvette?

Oh wow! Guess I can see why you need something compact. Looks like you have Corvette spacing, so you have the shortest setup already. I'd just buy another of the same pump you have, unless cooling is inadequate. Might want to make a post in the swaps/conversions section in regards to whether anyone has used the Davies/Craig pump.

Times 2 on the wow. But with the power steering pump up top it looks like 2002 F-body FEA? Corvette FEA would have the alternator up top. On my latest LS swap I used a 2002 Camaro water pump. Brand new and it leaked. Never had that happen before. Took it off and on the inlet/outlet holes of the water pump the mating surfaces had some machining grooves so the o-ring gaskets wouldn't seal. I used a real fine file to make the grooves go away. Put it back on and no issues.
Again very cool hot rod.

All I had when I bought the engine was a PS pump, alternator no brackets. So I got some thick aluminium plate so that the alternator and PS pump were lined up with the stock pulley grooves and made it so that it all fitted in the engine bay and just bought a 6 rib belt the right length. Took a lot of messing around etc. The turbo install complicated things.....

Default Tracking down coolant leaks and pre-emptive maintenance,

Hi, new to this forum. How do I post a new thread.
Coolant leak eventually traced to coolant hose at rear of motor that had rubbed through on engine lifting bracket.
Cut hose, brass barb and reclamp. Then cable tie to prevent re-occurrence.
Then noticed coolant discolouration on the 3 T piece connectors. Tightened, prob over-tightened and resulted in the crappy plastic fittings, now rather brittle, leaking.
Replaced them with brass tees. Also had to replace heater control valve- also plastic and brittle after 400 K.
Suggest all owners check what tees were originally fitted to your vehicle and replace or at the very least carry some spares in readiness for their imminent failure.
Hope this helps.

The plastic fittings are junk. Just had to replace mine on my 2006 Silverado. If you want to post a new thread, it's pretty simple. Find the appropriate subforum ( General LSX Automobile Discussion, for example ) and click on it. As soon as you click on it, you'll see a button to the left side that says +NEW THREAD. Click that and then fill out the fields.
