Default Help choosing mufflers

I finally got my L33 swapped 65 nova 4door running. I am running a ws6store high lift Asa cam, 1 3/4 headers and a 2.5" Pypes stainless exhaust with an x pipe. I started out with the violator mufflers from Pypes. They are crazy loud! My very unscientific method got 92db at the tailpipes. I can't even hear if my tires are spinning because it is so loud.

I am looking for something much quieter that still flows decent and won't kill power. I know that's a tall order.

Currently I am stuck between the Pypes Race Flow and the Borla ProXS mufflers. I also think I might be able to fit an 18" muffler rather than the 14" I have now. I have done a ton of searching on both of these and half say they are too loud/drone and half day too quiet/no drone. I know loudness is pretty subjective.

Has anyone tried both of these? Any thoughts or other mufflers I should check out? Thanks for any help or advice!

P.s. here is a clip with the current mufflers

I am running a L33 into a single 3" Flowmaster 70 , I like the sound , its got a nice mild rumble at idle and well up through the mid range, deans really get loud till your north of 4K.
I would imagine a pair of. them would be fairly quiet but they are HUGE..

Borla ProXS is my go-to muffler for a great sound that’s mild at cruise and loud when you open it up. Plus zero drone. Stainless bodies and lightweight. It’s a great performance muffler.

I'll second the Borla Pro XS, on my fourth gen Nova with a 6.0 and the same cam. Love the sound. Relatively quiet with a great sound and no drone.

I'm a Borla pro xs fan as well. I have a first gen Chevy II wagon and like you had Pypes(Street Pro) mufflers and hated the obnoxious noise and drone. The Borla pro xs sound awesome with zero drone. Everybody that hears my wagon loves the exhaust and it's not too loud. I'm running 3".

Thanks for all the help! I went with the Borla mufflers. I'll be sure to post a vid after so we can compare side by side.

I don’t know if you bought anything yet.. but the Flowmaster Flow FX series sounds really good on our CT525 engine in our camaro.. super quiet coming off the headers, 18-20” of 3” pipe and then the mufflers with turndowns.
