0 oil pressure on gauge
Do you have to remove the intake or will a deep socket remove the sensor? I think i maybe removed the intake real quick but that was 13 years ago since i had changed one. Theres a way the sensor can break the top off so i think most people remove the intake first.
I have a 99T/A and pretty sure if I unplug my OPS the gauge pegs high. Try that and see if gauge appears to be working properly. Note you don't have to have the engine running for this, just key on engine off, try not to run engine until you figure this out.
These oil pressure sensors are notorious for being problematic. Possibly a bad sensor but could also be something more serious (search for a thread from me where I had a stuck pressure relief valve in the oil pump causing 0 PSI for example).
Since pressure dropped suddenly to zero I don't think this is a O-ring problem.
Another thing you might want to try is unscrew your oil filter and crank briefly and see if oil comes out, you can pull fuse to keep engine from starting for this and I certainly wouldn't do it for very long.
I changed my OPS with intake on but it's a giant PITA, there is a special socket you can get that fits over it... pulling intake is what I'd recommend though because you'll probably break your new one installing it otherwise. Intake removal is not a big deal really. The OPS seemed to be very fragile.
I've had enough problems with mine that I installed a relocation kit to get better access to it from now on.
