Default Compact DBW TB

I have a 3 bolt DBW TB on my LM7 swapped Porsche 944. When I built the car I put a 4” cowl scoop on it to clear the TB and Intake. Well I’d like to go back to a stock hood. I’ve considered making an elbow for between the intake and TB which honestly would most likely solve my problem. It would have to be a “carb hat” tight radius 90. Not good for power, but I’m ok with that.

Another thought would be to locate a tb that’s more compact. I was wondering if any of the aftermarket TBs or even different oem ones have a smaller build? I’m using the stock PCM and TAC all done with pcm hammer and tuner pro. I did just pick up hp tuners if that would open up any options for me?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Tony post a pic for us. I think your idea of an "elbow" is pretty cool

The only issue here might be that MAF's like a little (6"+/-) straight path before and after the MAF

I should have enough room to stretch it all out. Will there be any issues with the TB being moved out from the intake plenum?

Also I sketched the TB before the MAF 🤦‍♂️ It was too early for my brain to work right.

The 4-bolt TBs are much more compact, but you will need to switch to an intake with a 4-bolt flange, or if that is an LS6 intake, have TPIS modify it with a 90mm snout.

I did an LT1, but this shows you how I routed my intake. I reduced the diameter from 4" to 3.5".

I’ll have to pull the TB off and see how it fits, my engine sits up slightly higher than most. I made my motor mounts.

Do you have your stock hood? It looks like your engine sits pretty low.

I have the stock hood, but I had to cut some of the ribbing out in the middle towards the front. I made some spacers to space the crossmember and caster blocks down. I think I did 1/2" or 3/4".

Bringing this back from the dead…

I spaced my crossmember down and I am so close, but the hood is hitting. So I think a 4 bolt TB is my next step like MuhThugga suggested. I’ve done a little searching and it sounds possible, but I will need a conversion harness. Im not trying to be lazy, just curious if any of you all have had luck with the conversion harnesses they sell to go to 4 bolt? I can do my research and make pins match, but do these harnesses have something else in them other than making 2 connections match up?
