Default Electric Waterpump?

My water pump just started leaking. Time to replace. My question is: Has anyone who installed an electric water pump regretted it? Is it worthwhile on a streetcar? Reliable? Better? I tend to think that the mechanical approach is more reliable but things have come a long way over the past 20 years so I figured I'd ask. Please share your thoughts and experiences.

EWP's run at only one speed. Sometimes it might not be enough.
Plus you will need to reroute the serpentine belt to skip the pump, which is not as easy as it sounds.
Put a stock pump back on.

Meziere has had their electric water pumps out for probably 20 years now. They are $900, but they also have a dummy pulley so you don't have to reroute the serpentine belt.

Other than to cool your car quicker at the track I think its a waste of money and the stock one is fine. If I could do it over I would have never spent the money. I don't think you gain a damn thing performance wise from one. I'm considering going back to stock pump. I'm having cooling problems with my car. I think the electric pump is maybe part of the problem. I was riding around with AC on today., Hit 230 degrees. That is way too hot. It was 86 degrees today. Use to idle in 95 degree weather with AC on around 217-218. Plus its getting hotter as I drive it down the road instead of cooling off. Not sure yet what's going on.

If your car will be doing any road trips, stick with the factory pump. You can get that replaced 800 miles from home if you have to.

All modern cars have electric water pumps and steering pumps.

Not true.
The majority still have engine driven coolant pumps, and power steering pumps are being replaced with electric power assisted steering which does not use any pump at all
