Prolly best to pick up a 45° or 30° something or other and then some kinda real-world cone style air filter.
IOW, look at what's REALLY available, and figure out how to make it work. Don't overthink it, don't Karen out on The Real World and DEMAND that it produce whatever you "think" is ideal, etc.

I think I'd get a 90° and put it at the TB; then a piece of 4" pipe going down toward the bottom of the rad; then the MAF; then a regular cone filter.
Just because I'm not much of a Jeffrey Dahmer saw kind of guy, I'd avoid any "cutting" of ANYTHING until I'm absolutely positive there's no alternative whatsoever. "Cut" scares the living excrement out of me. Your tolerance for such things may be greater than mine, but FWIW, that's my $0.02.
