So I just got my shipment in from speedway motors and my valley cover gasket, and my oil pan gasket are both bent. Is this an issue? Or will it sort itself out when it’s torqued down? I don’t want the gaskets to crack or anything when they’re torqued. I also got my rear cover and front cover gaskets in and they look a bit crusty. Can anybody tell me if these gaskets are good or not? Any help is appreciated.
Easily straighten the Pan Gasket out and you'll be fine. The Cover Gaskets have allodine on it from the looks, I've see a few like that. It's a treatment process for aluminum.
I'd contact Speedway Motors and explain, they prob would like to see the pictures as well. My experience in the past, most places(including Speedway) will ship you replacements at no cost. They will contact the shipper and write it off as shipping damage(least that's how it works on ebay). I deal with bad parts A LOT! Half the time or less from shipping damage. Over a year ago i wanted some metal fenders, took me over 20 to get some, that were not banged up LOL Just last winter, i must of had 15-20 part issues.
I even had an order from Speedway Motors, last winter and my air cleaner was smashed! They sent a replacement at no extra cost.
not un common unfortunately. They either play soccer or use as a wheel.chock for the truck....
I check in shipments from UPS at work and they always set heavy boxes on top of windows… The box the window is in says FRAGILE
GLASS real big on it yet they always place a crate of heads or something on top if it. Dang near every time.
If you have never read it, the packing instructions from UPS are hilarious.
I havnt in a while but it used to say:
"Packagers must assume multiple 6 to 8 foot drops during shipping"
My local sorting site has hteir doors open at night a lot in the summer,
conveyer belts going everywhere and packaged dropping at least 5 feet to the next belt..
Then imagine if it jams.
I bought a TB last year and the cam lever was bent. Odd thing was the box was in perfect shape. Sent the vendor a couple pictures and they said to send it back.
