difference in these power steering pumps?
I have a 5.3 LM7 from a 99 silverado swapped into my 86 Monte Carlo. The power steering pump was originally the smaller one on the left which uses a remote reservoir. Then I got the ones on the right to get units with reservoirs built on. The black one with reservoir has 3 outlets with the 3rd being towards the top, the silver one on the top only has two ports for inlet / outet. Why does one have 3 and one have two? Which to keep - I would assume the one with the two ports as my gbody steering box has two ports.
Also the truck bracket I have (part # 12567922) will only use the type with the remote reservoir - which LS motor / vehicle did this come as the setup? I need the bracket that can accommodate the pump with built on reservoir which is part # 12554030
The bracket you have there will not work with the old-style pump. Not sure why you'd want to downgrade from the modern pump to the 50s-60s thing from the Stone Age to begin with? You'd be MUCH better off to find a place to mount a remote reservoir and run the Type 2 pump.
