Starters???
Starters??? Is there a big difference between between starters?
I’ve noticed some differences in the size of the body but the “head unit” which bolts to the engine and engages the flex plate seem to all be the same?
But are they?
Im sure some have more power than others but does anything else change?
Asking cause I have an early block/crank (flat flex plate) and a late (2005) starter. I know the starter bolts right up just wasn’t sure about the rest.

From my experience with the Gen III there is a car Starter (LS Fbody, Corvette, etc) and there is a truck Starter (trucks, Iron Block Engines).
The car Starter tucks up closer to the Block and will not fit on the Ironblock Engines unless you cut the lug off that's on the side of the Block in that area. Truck Starter clears it car Starter will hit it. I've seen this with every Gen III Ironblock I've tried it on.
