i have a 2002 LS1 in my boat. is this the PCV valve or just some plastic connector? I read some had them and some don't. i didn't want to pull on it too hard b/c I heard this how setup is fragile. Engine has 700 hours (probably something like 60,000 miles in car lingo) thought of cleaning or replacing b/c of oil burn. Boat is running a constant 3000 rpm pulling skiers and am burning a quart in 40-50 hours.
Low hours and heavy oil consumption- I would immediately VENT the crankcase. PCV is NOT helping your cause.
Unless you have California crawling in your ***, there's NO reason to restrict your crankcase vents. I like minimum 1/2" inside diamter OPEN HOSE.

sounds interesting but not sure that would be safe in a boat? - my engine is under a huge cover.
Just run either -8 or -10 lines off each valve cover to a breather can mounted somewhere to ventilate the fumes outside of the compartment. You could also run a sealed catch can. Just mount it to the passenger cylinder head and connect the line with the PCV to the inlet and from the outlet run a line through your PCV valve and then connect it back to the intake manifold. Breather can would be better if you ask me though.
