2001 z06 with the ls6, the car sat not moving for about 2 weeks and I drove the car to work today and the oil is a mix of dark and white like how a head gasket leak would be, except I changed the head gaskets about 2000 or 3000 miles ago, I pulled my catch can off to inspect it and I cleaned it out before the drive and when I get to work it was full of what seems to be water and white oil sludge, how could've water gotten into my engine???, the only thing I can think of is my dipstick is broken right at where the seal is and I also forgot to change the crank seal on the timing chain cover behind the harmonic balancer when I cammed the car, but it never happened up until now and all that work was done about 2000 miles ago, very curious how im gathering moisture in the engine.
Looks like condensation, but alot of it. Do you have a lower temp thermostat like 160? live in a souther state that is very humid?
Also what does the oil look like on the dip stick? If its clean on the stick or if you drain some oil its clean then I wouldnt worry.
Water in a breather can mixing with oil blowby causes the beige sludge mixed with water and is not uncommon, especially during winter months. Engines build heat and that's why there's condensation. If you pull the dipstick and the oil level is normal and you don't see the beige/milky looking stuff in the crankcase oil then you're most likely okay.
Yup, cold weather, and especially short trips, are tough on engines and oil. Exhaust systems too. I've had engines years ago that had an almost pure white underside on the fill cap....
