Default QTEC wiring

I was just wondering what the best way to run the wire from the cutout into the cabin would be? Has anyone gone up through the shifter area like the instructions mention?

Thanks in advance...

Thanks for the replies guys. Do you have to poke a hole through the carpet at some point, or is there any carpet over the grommet?

Another thing...I was looking at my cutout (not the QTEC), and the bolts are not very long at all. I hope there is enough left after I mount the QTEC to allow for the nuts

just run your wire under the carpet and there is a cut in the carpet under the drivers seat that is where I pulled my wire though.

as far as mounting the non QTEC there is only a few threads to hold it on, so I was worried also. but just use lots of loctite and mine is still on there just fine.

i was thinking about wiring the foglights to be always on by just removing and bridging the relay, and then using that foglight switch as the cutout switch. give it a more factory, clean look.

Some people replace the bolts on the cutout with longer ones, I put a tack weld on the nut so it wont back out. I got the main power going right into the fuse box so the cutout is off when the car is off.

I tried going through the shifter boot first and failed. There is too much going on in there under the car. I melted my wire on the exhaust and had to get another. Going under the pass. rear grommit, up the hump under the center consol works great. It also looks good, and there is hardly any wire under the car. Just make sure you have enough clearance between the floor and the valve.

Kinda a stupid question, but is it easy to remove the rear seat to get access to the grommet? Is there carpeting over the grommet? And lastly...is it easy to fish the wire under the carpet to the center console?

Sorry for the million questions...

rear seat can be removed with one bolt in the center near where your feet go.

You can put your entire arm underneath the carpet so it is no problem to run the wire under there.

Good thought, however it won't work as the switch needs to be a DPDT momentary center off type switch. The fog light switch is not. I just use a small alco switch rewired to the harness. Very small and discrete.

edit: damn that center console of yours looks cool. Could we get better pic to see all that its controlling?

I have 3 different methods i want to do when i get mine:

1) buy a stock switch like the fog light and place it next to it.

2) get one of those red style flip style (control switches) like you would see in an airplane or the pentagon (at least its in the movies, lol)

3) or rig up something that involves your cigaretter lighter, so you just push it and it opens, then push it again and it closes.

I really dig your cigarette lighter idea. that'd be slick. What do you mean by putting a fog light switch next to it? If the fog light switch isn't the correct type, i wonder if the ASR type is?
