Default Over axle heat shield+ silicone=?

I've got the common corsa exhuast problem of the pipe rattling like heck against the heat shield. I was wondering if anyone had tried heat resistant silicone or anything of this sort to stop the rattling? The silicone will literally be touching the exhuast pipe because its so close, so Im wondering if it will just result in a sticky mess?

Any experiences or opinions?

install small spacers between body an exhaust mounts. should lower the exhaust just enough, but not enough to make an appearence difference

The heat shield is pretty thin. Try bending or denting it slightly away from the exhaust where the two are touching and causing the rattling.

I would not try using silicone because those exhaust components get very, very hot and my guess would be that the silicone will become a sticky glue and make a mess in that area. Even the heat resistant version of the silicone stuff might not be a great idea.

Another idea is to check with the people at an exhaust shop for suggestions and advice. Tell them about your system, the heat shield, the rattle, and see what they say...
