Remove the passenger side coil packs and A.I.R. tube. It will give you more room.

From below the car is probably the easiest way. I changed all of mine out from below when I installed my headers. It's also a lot easier to hook the plug wires back up from the bottom.

I always get it from the underneath also. The A4's are a little tougher for some reason at least the few I've worked on.

don't worry about whole coil pack rail get just the coil pack off cylinder 6 and stick your arm through the hole you just created. Its still a tight squeeze but it works and its faster to remove 2 bolts than the number holding the coil rail on.

Take the coil packs off and jump on top of her missionary style...forget about going underneath, unless you have tiny girl hands.

Hay that's pretty weak you Canadian lumberjack! From beneath is the only way to go. I'm half Canadian anyway, my Dad is from about 250 miles east of Winnepeg. Keewatin, Ontario.

So you like to sneak up on things from behind huh? What's the other half of you, Heinz 57?

While your at it, why don't you tell him the best way to change his oil is to siphon it out from the valve covers...

As for changing the plugs, I guess I won't know if i have little girly hands until I try to change my plugs. Although I think I'll just jump on her missionary style and go for it!!!

The best way to get to the number 8 plug is to get a super-hot super-flexible gymnast to hang from a trapeze upside down in your engine bay. Naked. Nuff said.

Or you can just move the air tube out of they way, pull all the wires, move the throttle cables to the side, and jam your arm in there and scrape it all up. That's what I do, but if I had a choice I would go with my first plan.

Take the coil pac off along with the air tube...
the "trick" is use a SPARK PLUG SOCKET then put a short socket on the hex part
of the spark plug socket use a 3/8 rachet from the top...
took me 2 or so hrs before i got that tip from here....then 2 minutes..
i didn't see how getting it out from the bottom was preferable w/ stk manifolds
btw my car is a 98 m6

When I did my plug change I did it from up top..Next time I will do it from under the car. When I got under there to do some other work The plug was easy to get to. Which I had done it that way from the beginning

Yup from the top, the bottom is way to narrow. I got big hands and taking off the last bolt for the coil packs is almost as hard as changing the plug.
