Borla Catback And Hooker Lt

Default Borla Catback And Hooker Lt

I have a set of jet hot coated Hoookers long tubes that i am going to put on my 01 Z,but i am not sure if i should run cats or not.I currrently have the borla catback system and I love the sound. I have been told to go with cats to avoid the "rasp " or drone. I am thinking about the QTP catted y ,and or the jet hot catted y .I just have never heard hooker and borla together.Also will a merge collector eliminate the rasp?I have never heard the hooker offroad and borla mix either,but the offroad is lot cheaper then the catted y.

I have the Hooker Y with Borla and it is EXTREMELY raspy. The rasp becomes horrible at 2000rpms and then falls off at 2600 rpm to a normal rasp level. I'd recommend running either cats or bullets in your Y-pipe if you want your borla to sound good. Personally, I'm putting 2 moroso spiral flows in my Y pipe because that sure did the trick on my last car.

Wow, I’m having the same issue. I have Jet hot LT headers with Magna flow cat back. I ordered the jet hot off road Y pipe. Or should I get the catted Y pipe. What’s the deferent’s?

It really depends what you want. There is no real power difference (3-4 hp) between having a Y pipe with high flow cats or an ORY. My roomate's car put down only a 2 hp diff when switching the cats into his FLP Y pipe. It really comes down to the sound you want.

There isnt a big power difference but that is 3-4 more hp than you had and every bit counts. I like the sound of no cats. But if you have to pass emmisions than you need cats.
