Default LS6 Intake Manifold SOTP gain?

Okay, again, I'm comming from over 2 hours of search time, so don't flame me too hard. I know the LS6 Intake manifold is good for approximatly 15hp at the wheels. How is this in the S.O.T.P.'s? Good / worthy mod, or waste of time. I know a lot of people buy it, and want to swear by it, but be real w/ me for a minute. Thanks a ton guys. Just doing my homework for my next mod.

I don't think you will see a 15rwhp gain on a stock internals motor, maybe almost 10rwhp depending on your other bolt ons.
Might not even feel too much SOTP either but I'm sure track numbers will improve from it.

just like he said,

It would not be that notice able , but it will show about a 1/10 at the track, it is like the airlid it shows gains but you dont really feel it.. to be realistic you might see 7 to 10 hp on a stock motor,

Personally I would get rid of the flowmaster for a different one, hooker/magnaflow ..or do a FTRA or a asp pulley first, those will net you close to the same.....IMO

Is your car an auto or a stick, if its an auto I would buy a torque converter...

Propbably won't feel it but get a ported throttlebody to go with it and you'll see alot better gains.

i've been told most of the hp increase comes up top, like 4k and up.
better bang for the buck.. headers/converter,, looks worth it when you do
the cam

You mean if I were to put in the cam and the intake at the same time it would be worth is? Cam is 215/220 .600/.525 114lsa.

The LS6 intake will help you more as you get into the motor, yes. The more you do, the more of an increase it is over the LS1. I currently plan to get an LS6 intake when I do a cam swap next summer.

yep, you got it

btw, if you don't have headers yet, i'm sure everybody would say do
headers before the cam...

The LS6 intake is not worth 15 RWHP. I saw tests in car craft on an engine dyno and it made at most 9 HP more than a LS1, and that's at the flywhee. I suspect on a stock engine it's around 6-8hp. On 3400lb car I don't think you'll feel it. I think it's still a good mod, but not before headers.

That is my next mod. Not worth more than 10 rwhp from what I am told. I gained no rwhp with a ported TB.

Might want to wait a bit. I know there is a new intake coming out that made over 15rwhp than the early LS1 intake, and that was still using the stock, unported throttle body.

LS2? If that's the one you're talking about it's got a 90mm opening, is throttle by wire and requires some modification to the fuel rails/injectors to work on an LS1/LS6 I heard.

The LS6 intake will really help her out after the cam swap. Headers will compliment even more, but I realize your issues with The Man that you'll run into in Cali. Look into some mid-lengths, might be able to pull something off there. Get some Mac's and port the primaries, won't be giving much up to lt's at that point.

NO. Mids are no different than longtubes to california residents. Do NOT get them, you might as well go all out with LT's. They both move the cats from the factory location and that is what matters.

I know that to be correct, but it's got to be the cheeziest thing I've ever heard of in my life. ..... The Man ---> "Well, we know that this doesn't affect smog at all because stock cats are stock cats, but let's not let them do it anyway. Just to see how bad it pisses them off." <--- The Man. If I thought for one second I could get away w/ it, I'd probably go it. But the problem is, that I get caught for stuff like that.... Guess it keeps me honest. Okay, I've been reading up on JRP's stuff again, and it looks like I would see gains from the shorties. I was under the impression before that only 99 and older would gain, but now I'm reading that the Y2K's will also accept the mod. I know what the hype is about these things, but maybe I'll start asking around from the guys who have them. Thanks for the help thus far.
