Default Help me choose exhaust for WS6

Hey all, I will have a 98-02 WS6 M6 in the near future and the first thing I want to do is the exhaust system. Im looking for the most Bassiest, low sounding, throaty exhaust. Im not looking for a really loud one or one that screams. The lower pitch at idle and reving the better. What do you guys reccomend? (ive seen the LS1sounds page, but i need acctual human advise) ~Future T/A/ owner

Do a search of this forum....
You'll find the question you just asked has been asked at least 200 times..

As far as catbacks go.. If you're on stock manifolds and cats-- then go with the Loudmouth..

But if you plan on LT Headers in the future, go with the Hooker Catback. It's seems to be a really popular choice.

I really like Magnaflow for that deep, rich sound. The clips on LS1sounds.com really don't do it justice at all. I added LTs/ORY and now it's even deeper and meaner.

Catbacks are for sound, not hp. I do like the way my Hooker catback sounds. Have had numerous compliments. LT's are a must tho.

For a catback, I'd go with the GMMG. Honestly though, go with true duals. You'll never look back.

Edelbrock Victor headers and y-pipe with a Hooker catback here. Sounds AWESOME! Nice deep exhaust note, no rasp, and not obscenely loud, but loud enough to get some attention. Best sounding LS1 I've heard in person, and one of the best cars I've ever heard. I do like the way the GMMG sounds too, at least from the files I've heard over the computer, never heard one in person though. From the online sound files, GMMG and Hooker sound pretty similar, both nice and deep and throaty.

Try this, LT's and a Dynomax bullet clamped to the end of each header, cheap and you eliminate some weight. Its not as loud as you would think either.

Im looking for the most Bassiest, low sounding, throaty exhaust. Im not looking for a really loud one or one that screams.
How the world does anyone recommend the GMMG or Loudmouth with a description like that? That's nearly the exact opposite of sound they make.

IMO, you are perfectly describing a Hooker or Mufflex catback. If your looking for a quiet bassy exhaust, go with a SLP Dual/Dual.

Hmm, the GMMG sounds a lot like the Hooker on the files I've listened to online. Like I said though, never heard it in person. I'd definitely go with the Hooker then, sounds awesome, flows great, and it's relatively cheap. Sounds REALLY nice with the Ed headers and a T-rex idling through it

Just an idea --- and it wouldn't cost so much to try --- consider trying the Street Pro 3" Street Strip cutout -- I know you'r going to say a "cutout is too loud" or it "screams" BUT the Street Pro is adjustable from full "raise the dead" open to just a quite wisper of "attitude" by touching the in cockpit switch --It's not the same old "all or nothing" game -- YOU control the amount of "non stock" sound -- Just a suggestion you may want to consider --- and with the Street Pro you can run the "hot" pipes anywhere you want them to go -- belly dumps to old time lake pipes, it's your call --- give it a look ---
