Default GM switching to Iridium Plugs for 2005 model year

I found this website that listed all the changes for the 2005 GM Truck engines.

It looks like for the 4.8, 5.3 and 6.0 GM will start to instal Iridium plugs from the factory.

Very cool, but I still wonder if the Iridiums are as good as copper for performance applications.
Looks like the LS2 and the aluminum 5.3L (the current SSR motor) won't be getting them.
