I use the cut-out and then narrow down to 3" to go over the axle to my SLP DD. Its relatively quiet on the street and I can open the cut-out when I need max power. The cut-out avoids
* the narrowing to 3",
* the turn to up and over the axle,
* and the muffler.
In my situation it adds power. About .07 in ET and 1 mph on back to back runs at the track.

I use a straight through muffler, no baffles at all.

Halfway through is a picture of the 3-1/2" muscleflow exhaust system.
I originally had a baffled muffler and wanted louder so we ended up with a straight through muffler. After that, rasp was so horrendous at 2000rpm-2500rpm, we put bullets in the y-pipe ( small, like maybe 10" ) where the cats normally go and it eliminated all rasp and droning.

I had the Mufflex w/spintech setup with mufflex Y-pipe and all I gained alot of power when I switched to true duals. My car has never been dyno'ed, but SOTP says definitely more powerful.
