Default Im wondering why ......

nobody seems to run Mufflex systems on here. With 3", 3.5", and even 4" pipes why dont some of the hard core guys go with their pipes? Im starting to wonder if they dont make good power or something.

Good question. My buddy is going with a 4" Mufflex with the Spintech muffler pretty soon on his G5X3 WS6. We'll get some results

He's switching from a dynomouth.

I've never heard one in person but what I have heared on the internet doesn't sound to good to me. I think ls1 sounds has a couple clips. The spin tech muffler sounded like *** to me as well. Thats just my opinion. My hearings not that great anyway, thanks to magnaflow w/no cats and my teenage years of thinking bass was cool and got the girls attention. WHAT... HUH.... Did you say something?

I have had the 4" Mufflex sys. with the spintech and the Flowmaster, and I lost 13 rwhp with the spintech over the Flowmaster, but let me warn you, the flowmaster is VERY raspy!

you lost 13 rwhp just from switching mufflers? Is there anything else you might have left out? What are the specs on your car?

I have heard the 4 inch system with spintech muffler on an LS1 cammed SS... it sounded amazing. I was going to get this system, but everyone keeps telling me it flows like crap. I am not about to spend $600 for only the sound and no flow!

Well, I guess we need some proof that stuff flows like crap. Everyone says stuff sucks just because everyone else says it. I'd like to see some facts.

Now, I'm not saying this systems does flow good or not, I'm just saying I'd like to see some numbers.

The reason I brought this up is because most people on here want alot more flow than stock and try to keep maximum ground clearance. It seems to me that on the passenger side of the driveshaft that you can tuck pipe in the driveshaft tunnel while the driver side presents problems with tucking because of the torque arm. So if you can get the same flow while tucking atleast some of the pipe in the tunnel why not do it? It has been said that a 3" pipe flows about the same as two 2.25" pipes so a 4" should atleast flow the same as two 3" pipes. The only drawback I can think of is without the crossover in the exhaust there wont be as much scavenging. I guess after reading some of the post I can conclude that either the Mufflex exhaust flow like *** based on peoples experiences, they flow good based on peoples esperiences, or alot of people just dont know what the hell they are talking about based on chatter about them. I love smilies!

I lost it by changing nothing more than the muffler, I have stage 2 LS6 heads from TEA, a custom Grind cam similar to the F13. The Flowmaster Flows real good, its not an 80 series crossflow, its the deltaforce series.

Isn't it not even a stainless steal system? I would have hoped it is for like 600.

Yeah, I thought about getting the mufflex catback but hate the mufflers they use. I wouldnt be surprised if the 4" spintech and flowmaster mufflers flow less than a 3" straight through muffler. I wish they would use a straight through muffler like a magnaflow or ultraflo or would sell just the 4" pipe.

I use a 3.5" I-pipe being feed from a 3" Y. Advantage is I can use a QTP 3.5" electric cut-out. Cross section of 3.5" = 9.6" SQ. Stock 2.5" = 4.9". I think doubling is plenty for a 346 engine.

Me as well, 3.5" all the way out the back courtesy of Stainless Works ( their headers and y-pipe with bullets too ). PLENTY for a 346, I almost wonder if it's 2 much sometimes.

what do you actually use for a muffler. plus is a cutout really going to help that much on that big of an exhaust.
