Alot of people are using the 160 with great results. Me personally like the 180, the heater works better in the winter and in the summer it keeps the coolant in the radiator longer to cool it off. Some people have trouble keeping the car cool in hot, bumper to bumper traffic with the 160, the thermostat stays open and all that is happening is you are curculating hot water with not enough time in the radiator for it to do its job. But with the LS1 having an aluminum block most places in the country you my not have any trouble.

They do but only marginal. The idea is to have a cooler running engine so that it will be able to make more power.
