How Raspy would QTP headers and QTP ORY pipes be going into a GMMG I got the GMMG ready for install but im going to install them all at the same time so I wondering if anyone knows? I have the money for the headers and y pipes as well and want to buy as soon as possible!

If you are dead set on the GMMG, you'd best become dead set on getting a catted-y to go along with it. I think you will find that a GMMG mated up to an ORY will be raspy as all hell, taking all the fun out of driving it. Even if you liked the sound for some reason, you'd still have to explain to everyone why exactly you made the conscious decision to make your car sound like *** to them.

I was driving a Raspmobile, I suggest True Duals, they sound great & no rasp what so ever. The sound is awesome.

Even the open Borla with LT's and ORP is raspy as hell. Good thing bout the Borla is once you put the solid block off plate in, and actually use the muffler, all the rasp disappears. Gives ya the option of having a "Raspmobile" or not. lol

If you are keeping the GMMG use cats!
Just to give you another option (I cna't help but recommend them, see sig) you could sell the GMMG and get duals at a huge savings in cost. No need to buy the Y-pipe or cats and you could get duals to the axle for what the GMMG would fetch, easily.
Either way will sound nice.

I completely agree. I too recently installed Kooks LT's with their highflow catted Y-pipe and I absolutely cannot believe how much better the GMMG now sounds on my LS1. You're right, at idle, not much difference. But from the mid rpms up, the tone is so much deeper, louder, and just plain meaner than before! WOT is super loud and aggressive (and this is through CATS).

Honestly, I thought the GMMG sounded good behind stock manifolds, cats, and Y-pipe, but didn't think it was anything special (although still better than a Borla or Loudmouth). But I now like it with these LT headers & cats even better than a true dual set-up using bullet mufflers or such. That is how much of a difference the headers made IMO...

Question.... So running GMMG with QTP longtubes will sound like **** unless you have a catted Y-pipe? does this have something to do with GMMG being a Chambered Exhaust or is this with all Exhausts and Longtubes w/o cats???

Most cat-backs through an ORY will rasp. Some worse than others. Macs rasp worse than LT's. The most rasp comes from things like the borla, loudmouth, and gmmg. You want less rasp, use cats. You want NO rasp with DEEP sound, get duals.

Ok question on the raspyness...sorry to steal the thread a little but it may benifit someone else too....I have a third gen ls1 and I have JBA shortie headers, going to have a custom noncatted ypipe to a 3" pacesetter cat back. The mods are in the sig...how raspy would this be??? I havent had the ypipe made yet so I can still change it if I need to....also sounds dumb, but why are ls1 more raspy than say lt1's,tpi's, ect??

I'm not sure if this is an isolated incident or not. But when I replaced my old custom 3" ory-pipe on my longtubes out with a QTP dual cutout ory-pipe... it eliminated 95% of my rasp. This all through a wide open borla.

Well if they made a third gen ls1 ypipe conversion I would surly be all over it, but they have yet to make that conversion part...plus theres a really good fabricator by me who will do it for cheap, maybe yours is an isolated incident...but what Im wondering is, will catting it make it sound that much better compared to the power advantage, not to mention it would be more expensive.

If you are going to run the GMMG with lt's i would recommend the catted Y. If it is a bit loud still or has rasp you can allways throw some bullit mufflers in the I-pipe.
