Default Engine temp gauge at 0

Ok, here is the deal. Last week I had to take out my driver's side cylinder head because one of my spark plug holes was stripped. So, I had a heli coil installed. Now, I've put my engine back together and everything is running great. But, I have one issue, my temp gauge was jumping from 0 to the correct temperature every so often. But, 2 days ago the temp gauge just stayed on 0 and hasn't moved since. So, I thought it was the coolant temp sensor that's located on the driver's side cylinder head. So, I replaced it today, but my temperature gauge is still sitting at 0.

What else can I check? I'm cluelesss right now.

Is the wire plug damaged?

Make sure the ground on the back of the head is tight.

Any chance you got trash in there?

Remove the sensor plug and check the sensor pins. Ensure that the pin the yellow wire mates up to has continuity to ground. It may have and internal open circuit in the thermistor. Or you could just change the bulb if not electrically inclined.

Yeah, the 3 cables in the back of the head are properly grounded.

And what do you mean by "trash"?

I'm quite sure it is a grounding problem because my readings are continously going from 0 to the right temperature while I'm driving.

Where exactly is the thermistor anyways?
