Default Restrictor on SLP Dual Dual.

Ive done many searches and it seems everyone states that the 98 and up SS dont have the silencer/restrictor (like this thread http://web.camaross.com/forums/show...348&postcount=3 )
I got a 2000 SS about 3k miles ago, and when I got it the tips, in and out, where clean. Now 3k miles later, the passenger tip is the normal sooty black that most f-body exhausts look like. But the drivers tips are pretty much clean still. The only logical explanation I can think of is that something is blocking exhaust from freely flowing out of the drivers tip.
any one else have a thought?

Many of the catbacks I've seen produce more exhaust out the passengers side pipe.
Why? IMO, it's probably the shortest path.

i thought about that too, but these mufflers are chambered. Therefore to resistance should be roughly the same for both exits.

Its confirmed. I just got back from the muffler shop where they removed the ring for me on my 2000 SSwith Dual/Dual. as you can see the pipe is restricted to about 1/2 " its sounds alot better now.

Wow.. that's the old "cone of silence".

Is that a SLP optioned dual/dual car? Or was it put on the car aftermarket?

it looks like crap because the shop cut it out with a torch. I suppose to find out if you have it you can do a couple of things: feel how much exhaust come out the left compared to the right, and you could clean the inside of both tips and drive for a few thousand miles and see which one gets dirty faster.
My left tip was more or less perfectly clean, whereas the right was covered in soot.
The shop cut the pipe right after the pipe

There is also still some controversy surrounding the idea that there are actually two (or even 3?!) different types of SLP dual/dual catbacks out there.
The factory SS/Firehawk versions and then the SLP aftermarket catalog version.
Not sure what's what and/or how it affects this silencer/baffle discussion though.

I thought the only restrictor that my Dual/Dual optioned car had was that the original owner cut off the muffler and replaced it with a crapmaster. i guess i was wrong.

about 2 inches after the muffler, inside the pipe.
Theshop cut the pipe off where it is welded to the muffler, and there it was, about 1-2 inches inside the pipe. cost me $20 and sounds alot better now. I can hear the exhaust on the left side of the car.
