Default Yes another GMMG vs Magnaflow thread

This is an easy one guys. Throw the sound difference out the window. Which plain and simply flows better? I was thinking of getting a magnaflow and a ported tb or just the gmmg. what would you guys do?

this is starting to get like the lid responce...

the difference is so little between ALL the catback systems that it's stupid to debate it.

Yeah the flow would be very close. Choose based on sound preference and budget.

Go true duals, it will out flow those anyday. And save you money over the GMMG. All the GMMG really is, is two sweet thunder mufflers curved around.

Magnaflow, to me, is too muffled, sounds like cardboard to me, if that makes any sense...doesn't sound real. GMMG is cool, but for the money, you could true duals with Sweet Thunders (similar mufflers, though not identical) and get a better sound and much better flow for less money. Exactly what I did.

I'm not sure about the true numbers but I know a couple cases where people with Magnaflow exhaust gained less than 5 hp with a cutout. The Magnaflow is almost a straight through exhaust, especially the right pipe which is hardly muffled at all.

The Sweet Thunders are actually pretty cramped on the inside of them. They flow, but I wouldnt say they flow well. But, when included in a true-dual system, most mufflers perform well.

as far as CFM magnaflow wins, cant beat a straight through design . having said that you are correct.

Check it out, go to www.ls1sounds.com, listen to the exhaust

Theb decide on which catback to go with.. I wouldn't put a flowmaster on an LS1 though, it sounds choked up as it is...

Anyway, check that site out and go from there.

I got bored with my slp d/d. I went and ordered a magnaflow. Could see spending 850 bucks for a catback compared to 350. Hey anyone wanna buy a d/d.

I have my Magnaflow and I love it. Since you have longtubes and a cam, you may want to stay away from GMMG because it will be VERY loud. Magnaflow tends to be just the right volume once you get the extra noise from a cam and full exhaust.
