Default Cut out exhaust? is it worth it?

I was really thinking about buying the cut out exhaust for my car next week. i was wondering should i expect a difference in performance and is it worth it to buy the cut out. Thanks

You should see a gain esp. considering you've got a flowmaster.

You'll definitely see a gain since you're running the Blowmaster. Cuts are worth at a minimum 5HP. Good considering they only cost $30.

By the way, your sig pic is too big..

I'd expect 10-20rwhp...cause of the flowmaster

Ya, go with the cutout. Top-end performance is greatly improved, along with the best part: the sound.

I have a flowmaster and went to the cutout...the only time I cap it up is when the gf gets in the car 'cause "it's too damn loud" for her.

You won't be disappointed...but make sure you're running headers. Cutouts sound like **** with stock manifolds (from what I hear others say).

oh i another thing is that i have stock exhaust manifolds. I have not yet bought any after market headers yet. im looking at some PACESETTER LT Headers. should i wait till LTs before the cut out or should i put them on my stock "headers"

I'd go with it now. I put one on my car and dynoed 10-15rwhp more with it open. However lower end tq was reduced... check the link in my sig (power tour pics) and there is a graph with the open/closed results...

I seem to burn more gas with it open at highway speed, but with the 410s you have I dont think that will be a problem..

i gained 7hp adn 9tq with a cutout over ws6 exhaust (which flows better than stock) with stock cats and manifolds. a friend of mine has header and an auto and only picked up 5hp over hooker catback but picked up .20 at the track. so yes... one of the cheapest performance gains ever.

I see a 15 hp 9 tq diff between the shitty flowmaster and my cut out. More importantly, that power is seen ALL across the power band. My cutout is under the rear passenger seat. The exaust was on the car when I bought it, so I'm not complaining.

I would run an electric cutout if you are mixing it up in the street very often. I can't tell you how many times I wish I could flip a switch for that extra 15 HP.

IMO, a cut out is one of the cheapest/easiest mods for the most HP on an F-body. I wouldnt hesitate on doing it unless you plan on going true duals anytime soon. Thats next on my agenda anyways. Good Luck to you.

Take Care.

You will be suprised, but with a single cutout and cats, it sounds very good. But if I were you, wait till you get your headers and y-pipe and put dual cutouts on. Also, if you decide to just go single on the I-pipe, there is a GREAT place on the passenger side near the rearend. It seems like gm sutout a place on the car just to put a cutout on.

I loved the way mine sounded with a cutout and stock manifolds. Now I have TD and I love it even more. I wouldn't hesitate to do a cutout if I was you.

ur talking about RIGHT before the axle right? thats where mine is, HUGE difference , but for some reason, my friends is alot louder then mine, but he as a ramair kit, u guys think that might be why his is louder?, we both have flows, but he has a single cat and i have dual cats..

Yes, right before the axle. His is louder, because he hasa single cat and you have duals.

I love cutouts, some may not like the sound but for the money I dont see how you can beat it. Its better than a catback imo

Get one. You'll see and maybe even feel a gain over the flowmaster and the car will sound alot meaner. The QTEC is awesome and I love mine. Open or closed in 5 secs. I gained 5rwhp @ 5rwtq with mine over my Corsa muffler. The lines were the same until around 4300rpms where the cutout started making more power.

I have a cutout in my edelbrock catback. when my engine was fresh and not broke in yet, I made 372/371 through the muffler. Opened it right after that pull with no cooldown and went 389 hp/382 tq. SOme of this may be due to the first pull never being the highest on the dyno but I also gain 2 mph at the track with the cutout open.
I know the edelbrock is not a top performing exh. for the f body but it sure is the best sounding I ever heard so I just open the cutout when I want to go faster.
