Default Egr/air Blockoff/removal?

i just put on a set of LT's, left the EGR on, getting ready to put on a LS6 intake. When removing the AIR provisions, I saw on the back of the block 3-4 lines, two EGR, 1-2 for the AIR system. I want to take all this junk off. I saw from the front that there were two vacuum lines going to the AIR selinoid? Some one let me know whats up with removing all this junk, as well as a company that makes the block off peice for the stock intake where the EGR plugs in, so its all off untill i get the LS6. Emissions is not a concern obviously, thank you LS1 edit....

Disconect the small vac line for the air and take the 90deg rubber fitting and put in a screw with rtv on it. Then put the fitting back on. Thats what i did no problems. I think that valve helps a/c and heat, Someone else might be able to varafy. hope that helps.

I think LS1 Speed sells the blockoff kits.

You can purchase them directly off the site www.mycamaroz28.homestead.com

I just bought a SJM block off plate for my intake, looks kind of cheaply made, but I guess it was only $15. I just made my other plates for the exhaust by cutting the steel lines off of the flange and TIG welded in a tapered head stainless bolt to seal the hole. GM has gaskets for everything except for the intake. The actually turned out really nice.

It's unfortunate to hear someone unhappy with the quality of our work. I'm not certain as to why you felt the product was not up to your standards.

It is difficult to create a "cheaply made" product that is fairly simple in design mimicking the stock shape using high-quality materials and polished to a high-luster. I understand that we cannot satisfy everyone 100% of the time. I am uncertain how there could be any improvements made though we are open to suggestions.

If you are unhappy with the quality, feel free to return it to us, and we will be happy to give you a refund. We certainly do not want someone to be unhappy with their purchase.

Its just in the picture on your website they look alot beter, they look thicker, have nicer edge quality, and not scratched. The hole in it was also sort of a irregular shape like the drill used was dull. I didnt want to send it back because I needed it now and not later. I just wish I would of made a mirrored stainless one for cheaper and better quality.

I understand your concerns. All plates are all made from 1/8 inch 6061 T6 material. We have been manufacturing them this way from the beginning.

There is no benifit to use thicker T6 grade material. If lower grade less expensive more ductile material was used, then it would be necessary to use a thicker material (to prevent warpage). Thicker 6061 hardened to T6 only adds more cost to the parts which is passed to the consumer.

Regarding the hole or edges, they are all CNC cut and milled. Polishing can alter the final finish and shape of holes since material is removed.

Regarding making one less expensive. I agree whole hearted, sometimes if you have the material and equipment, there is a certain pride that making a part yourself lends to a feeling of self accomplishment. If you have access to the material for free, have access to various polishing compounds for free, then yes, there is no doubt that you can make the part less expensive. If one went out and purchased a piece of 6061 T6 material and appropriate polishing material...cut it out with their method of choice, it may end up costing around the same amount. There still is that "I made it myself" accomplishment feeling that you would still take pride.

As you have mentioned and we agree, 15.00 shipped for a part made out of high-grade material that is polished we feel is extremly reasonable.

I do appretiate your feedback.

Making it yourself... How many people actually have the CNC machines available in their homes? I mean, for $15, you can't expect the world. Not to mention 6061 isn't the top of the line aluminum anyway. 2024 or 2120 (I can't remember) will only add to the price when you don't need anything special for the block off plates in the first place.

How about someone just calls up Alcoa metals and asked for some aluminum stock... I wonder how "cheap" it'd be for you to manufacuturit yoursefl then
