A/C compressor help..

A/C compressor help.. I know that the compressor is good. I took the AC off during my last tear down of the engine.
Well.. we used a vac on the system to get out all the air. After getting a can of refrigerant in, we can't get the compressor to kick in.
How do to trick the compressor into coming on and doing its job since the system had been emptied out.
But buddy said something about using a paper clip on one of the electrical connections..
Any help..

I'm gonna add another can and see if the compressor kicks in, since we only added one can before..
I took my a/c out and I called gm to see what went back in if i ever wanted the a/c again, the said use the r134 like u did and have a machine vac out all the air and your good to go. So you might want to put some more in see what happens.
