Be carefull when dropping the battery into the tray, the back part of the tray can break very easily..also the battery tray is part of the coolant tank.

I went with the Optima red top. Mine fit perfect and it gives the engine bay a mean muscle look!

Pro Mouse, I don't have a Optima battery, when I do need a battery I don't think I'll go with the Optima unless there is absoultley no problem with the Optima fitting into the battery tray ( I've read where some guys have trimmed part of the tray ). I think you would be surprized how many guys are running around with a broken battery tray and don't even know it.

rgrizzard, 99Z28vert, this might help. http://www.1st-optima-batteries.com/...y_selector.asp

get a price from auto-zone and from summitt, then go down to advance auto parts and they will price match it and install it for free. Most guys at Advance are ASE certified so a battery install is no prblem for them (they do it everyday).

i took my coolant tank out to find my battery mount broken off. i never new it before and have forgotten about it since.

i dont think i would let someone at an autoparts store DROP a battery in my car if my battery box wasnt broken, or even if it is broke. i'd rather do it myself

P.S. - make SURE you know the security code on yer radio before you remove the battery.

The optima, because of it's 6pack shape, is smaller at the bottom then the top. Yes it will fit, just barely. Snug is good. The Optima is the best battery on the market right now. I wwent to a training seminar on them and watched a guy fire a riffle through it and then start his car with it sitting on it's side. No lie. They are nearly indestructible. Only time, a long time, kills an Optima.

Thanks for the Optima Info!I am going to go with the 34/78 Red Top ,it is 800 CCA and 104 reserve....I would not let a auto parts store work on my car...A battery is easy enough to do....

Optima Red Top got one in mine (if you have over 1000 watt system or something that could drain a battery get a Yellow top cuz of its deep cycle design)

Good point...

I was assuming that he didn't have a bangin' system. If you are pushing over the 1000 watt mark, especially unregulated power supplies in the amps, then definately go yellow top. The voltage will fluctuate too much for a red top.

Strange. I have a Optima red top. Fits perfect.

I could see where a Yellow top could be a tight fit or maybe they ordered the wrong red top for there cars...

BTW.. Pepboys has pretty good prices on Optima's

No Problem DARK AGE ,I am happy with this battery ,my volt gauge has never been this high even when the car was new!Like I said It fits great, there is a 1/4 inch between the battery and Radiator,But it went right into place ,no jockeying it around and also my battery tray isnt broken and I didnt have to modify it...
