Tensioner Pulley
Tensioner Pulley My tensioner pulley has been a little loud. Got a new Dayco 89015 but when I installed it, I found out it was binding and would not spin freely. The problem is that although the pulleys look almost the same, the washer binds because my original pulley has a taper on the inner plastic where the washer fits. The new one from Dayco is not tapered. Anyone have any ideas?

Did you get the right one? There is an idler pulley, and a tensioner pulley. Dayco makes both, and I think they probably look similar. I am running the Dayco tensioner pulley on mine, and it was exactly like the original. Are you sure you didn't put it on backwards? Because that is the right part number.
Definately. It's the tensioner pulley. The problem is that every parts store shows the replacement pulley having a flat surface on the inside diameter of the plastic pulley.
My pulley is the same size (70mm) as the listed part which is a Dayco 89015 but the inner diameter on mine is beveled. Anyone know anything about this? I've seen some Gates pulleys at Napa that were beveled but they were too large.

The problem is that the washer is binging on the inner diameter of the new pulley. Now , a guy from Gates told me that I don't need to use the washer. Seems like the washer helps to align the pulley making sure it is centered.
