Default Best Exhaust

I just got a 1999 Trans AM WS6, and I want to do a nasty awesome exhaust set up(minus headers). I was hoping for some advice as what to do. What would be the loudest, best sounding, etc, etc...

Thanks

Loudest and most cost effective is some electric cutouts so it can me nasty when you want and then stock when you are tired of the loud.

True duals also sound really good especially with some spintech mufflers on em

I talked to a exhaust man today, and he said true duals wouldn't be cost effective. How big of a difference would true duals make? Is H-pipe or X-pipe louder? What type of muffler will make a GOOD LOUD sound?

I just got custom true duals with Sweet Thunder mufflers put on my car and it sounds amazing!

The reason I did true duals is because everyone that I talked to either wish they had true duals or had already tried other exhaust set-ups and now have true duals.

I got mine over the axel with a X-pipe for less than most pay for a cat-back set-up.

Usually H-pipe sounds better, but X-pipe will yield better performance gains.

Good Lound sound = flowmaster. Sounds like your after the sound and not performance.

Pacesetter Headers $275
Local exhaust shop x-pipe duals $150

Nice sounding header/dual system for $425 and at WOT .

I got the magnaflow cat-back and have loved it. I just installed headers and an ory and it sounds awesome, not raspy at all imo. True duals sound really good, but they will really depend on what mufflers you put on them, which is going to personal preference. If at all possible, listen to some in person and make your decision based off of that. Good luck

I would also recommend the flowmaster system if you are concerned with sound and not performance. If you are after performance i would get a flowmaster and back it up with a cut-out.

I am leaning towards duals under the axle, which is WAY more cost effective than over the axle and according to those that have it, there are no clearance or banging issues.

If I'm reading it right, you aren't going to do headers, so DON'T DO TRUE DUALS. If you want duals, wait until you have headers (which aren't much these days). If you want something cheap and loud, get a TSP rumbler. On stock manifolds and cats, it will give you what you are looking for. If you want the best sounding catback with stock manifolds and cats (IMO), get a Flowmaster, but unlike their name, they don't flow very well. Sound great though.

I have the Magnaflow with no cats and mine is raspy as HELL! And I love every bit of it. Kinda sounds like a Corba. This is just for the time being, I plan to go LTs and true duals in JAN.

Really, maybe our definition of rasp is different, but at least we are both happy with it.
