Default My 98 SS exhuast...

I bought a 98 SS and its unlike any others I have seen, well the exhuast is. Im confused about it, there is only one tip on the drivers side I wanted to know why it doesn't have a dual exhuast like most.

Mine was the same way. I guess it was just how SLP did the exhaust that year for the SS's.

Yep..
The exhausts came from the factory like that. My buddy has a 96SS, but he has 2OTL.

98 SS/WS6 got the 1 3.5" tip out the left side, most people got the dual dual as an upgrade, as the single exhaust is not liked by most, (but is the best flowing stock catback made for these cars, it was too loud for government testing.

The SS's are more common to see them still on the car, the 98 WS6's are VERY rare to still se on there, as the 2 cutouts look dumb with just 1 borderline ricey tip.

As other's have said the standard exhaust was the single exhaust pipe on the drivers side with an optional Dual/Dual exhaust, might be a good time to add the GMMG exhaust this winter.

I'd keep that single outlet exhaust though! If it were ever returned to stock you'd be glad you did.

Isn't it the same exhaust as the 98 WS6??

I saw my first 98 WS6 with the stock single outlet pipe in florida over the summer. It was borderline ricey, my friend even asked if one of the tips fell off. My cars orgional owner took the stock exhaust off back when he got it in 98.

That is why I didn't feel real bad about going to single exhaust, since the SS models had it anyways.

Thanks for the clearing that up with me, does anyone think it would be a good idea to swap to a different muffler and make it a dual exhuast and try to add some power, I don't want to spend 500-600 on a good catback exhuast could I get close to the same results by changing the muffler?

You will probably get the best results (on a Y-piped car) with a single 3" system all the way back to a single outlet. I think if I were going to go back to duals, I would get something that "Y"s into two outlets, rather than a crossflow muffler. Every body says that they flow like crap. I would have gone for a dual outlet muffler and done two pipes out the same side, but the muffler that matched my needs was single outlet.
