Battery power drops after Pulley ?

Correct me if I'm wrong but the voltmeter in the car only reads the output of the alternator, right? So the new battery wouldn't change anything it will just be able to handle the cycling alot better than the stock one. I've had the same probelm as you for along time and everyhting has been fine, I wouldn't really worry about it. If you can get an alternator over drive pulley but then you might read high when the fans and lights are not on.

It was probably good to replace your battery due to age.....but that wasn't your problem.

You need the alternator OVERDRIVE pulley to fix your charging problems.

Definately get the Alternator pulley with the underdrive. Crappy battery or even an optima your voltage is still going to drop at idle in most cases w/o the alternator pulley. I just replaced the stock battery in my 98 also, I put in a Delco professional since I have a dealer discount on parts.
