Default alternator only problem solved

I took some flat stock, milled a slot in it and welded a tab on it, then I took the sawzall to the stock aluminum bracket and cut off a few uneeded parts. I got the offsets just right so the bracket stays fairly level and doesn't hit anything.
Not too bad for a newbie huh?

To make the alternator adjustable. I guess I should have said that. All that's being driven by the crank is the alternator so I needed a way to keep the belt tight. I thought about using a tensioner but that would just be another thing that could cause problems. All I have to do is put the belt on, move the alt out to tighten the belt and then tighten the adjuster.

I could make a few of these with the laser cutter at work if anyone wants one for a fair price. No one sells an alternator only solution.

Good Job, Here is my alt only setup

Old Setup: Using the Stock alt, this is very easy, you just take the stock tensioner pulley assembly, and bolt it to the back of where the idler pulley used to be, you will just have to grind a small part off the bracket, you will see what I am talking about as soon as you try it



Here is the new setup, I bought a new 19 volt alt (to go with my 16 volt battery) and it would not bolt to the stock mount so I had to make a new one. I like using a tensioner because it is just one less thing for me to worry about, making sure my belt is tight enough
