Default just finished header install

like the title says i just finished my LT install this morning and just a couple of things i wanted to comment about. the crossbrace behind the tranny crossmember does NOT fit, no way, no how. i don't figure it does anything real important anyhow, i have sfc's. i don't think i messed up on the Y-pipe install, it's pretty straight forward. ground clearance for me also is not an issue either but i'm at stock heightand will probably reamain so. i am also thinking of putting o2 bungs behind the converters to eliminate the SES light from staying on, it freaks me out and makes me thing i have a piece of ****. i'll post whether it works or not, and it won't cost me anything to try this. my heat shields need clearanced a little bit cause they rattle sometimes. the sound now with the LT's, TSP catted Y and my LoudMouth is vicious. the fit of the headers is great they went in no problem, the y-pipe took a little more effort than i expected but fits great. sorry for long post but i'm excited it's done and wanted to let people know about my experience doing this swap. just can't wait to get it to the dyno and see what it puts down to the wheels and then to the track in the spring to see what kind of improvement it made on my times.

My tunnle brace did not want to fit either. I put it on and hung on it while the car was on the lift and it bent down to give the clearance I needed. My Kooks y-pipe was also a bitch to get on. You should see 25rwhp gains and about 15rwtq.

Sounds good, my headers will be here on Monday and I sill be starting my install.

Did you have to do any welding for the y to the catback, or did you clamp?

i don't know how to make a sound clip yet but i can tell you that the drone isn't that bad and it's loud especially in the upper rpms. i didn't weld anything and the only places i clamped were the collectors to the y-pipe and the y-pipe the catback. the other pipes in the y-pipe fit so tight i don't think it'll ever leak or come loose.

I had to bang the crap out of my tunnel brace to get it to fit. Completely reshaped it.

I just did this install on Friday(Kooks SS 1 3/4, Kooks ORY) and I must say it was the most issue free install I've done yet, very straightforward. Headers fit like a glove, no issues. Y-pipe fit well too. However, right now I'm runnin an open y-pipe and it bangs on the tunnel brace when I stab the throttle too much. That will get fixed w/a trip to Lanes on monday, since previous owner cut the y-pipe off his old exhaust I have to get it lengthened a bit. Y-pipe doesn't have any clearance problems otherwise, went on with some effort but nothing not to be expected. I'll be installing a chassis mounted tq-arm here in a few weeks hopefully and that will give me even more clearance for the exhaust.
