I have the SLP LT's and i have only rubbed once.... i was going too fast over speed bump .... but iv had them since august and put 15000 miles on it since then....no other problems here....but 600$ is kinda cheap in my book... right now i think i would rather have the stepped kooks though

Go with Hooker coated LT's. Around your price range and they're quality pieces.

I love my Hookers. All headers are equal in my book, Hookers are just easy to install and cheap. They're cheap enough that when they wear out (like all exhaust systems do) I can afford to replace them.

Why keep replacing them? Just buy a good set the first time and be done with it. I had the Hooker LT's and they failed after 20 months. The welds are not the best and the ceramic coating was flaking off after 1 year. If you are in the market for a mild steel header, get the Pacesetter's. If you want a header that will last, get the QTP's. I purchased the QTP's and they fit a lot better that the Hooker LT's.

I have the SLPs and other than bottoming out on a back-road at 75, I've never rubbed them. They're a good header, my coating hasn't flaked at all and I'm comfortable with them on the roads in NY because they're coated and stainless. They make good power (read JRP's exhaust guide for more on that statement) and I'm glad I bought them when I did knowing what I knew. Most people that bash them on here have never owned a pair and have just jumped on the 'I hate SLP' bandwagon. The Y-pipe is a different matter entirely though, that rubs a fair amount (all the scraping is on the cats, though.)

My next set is going to be stepped Kooks.

well.... like blacker said.. QTPs is your best bet.. they are more money.. but.... you are likely to have to replace the LTs if you go with a less expensive one.
i went through it already.. i had a set of Jethots/Hookers... they started to rust, the coating started to peel of.. it was a nightmare...

so i sold them and got the ones that i should have gotten to begin with.. QTPs Stainless Race headers
