Default Is the X pipe worth it?

Im currently running true duals, bullets w/ dumps no x pipe. Its way too loud. So Im gonna run it over the axle out the back to tone it down some.when I do this should I go ahead and redo the system w/ a X pipe.or is it a waste of time?I aint got no problem trashing the old system its only like 8 feet of pipe. Also Im running 3 inch right now and clearance is an issue, should I find some oval pipe or step down to 2 1/2?will there be hp loss w/ 2 1/2.I have the all the common bolt ons w/ a g5 x2 cam in it and nitrious.thanks for your input

Do a search for "Lanes" or "Lane", he posted what he had found regarding X setups and which ones to use.

when yo uare spraying you could hang up a bit of hp. but it really shouldn't be too much.

now when you say no xp ipe are you using an h pipe or just straight pipes with no balancer between teh two pipes? If you are doing the latter, get an x portion.

If you arelooking to redo your set up, TSP is offering their rumbler x with moroso spiral flow mufflers (quieter than those bullets for sure).

but if ground clearance is a big time issue id say go with 2.5 inch piping, gain some ground clearance, take it over teh axle but keep the bullets if you do, they sound great going out the back...really tames them quite a bit.

Good luck man

I am thinking of switching back to TD's, I have ORY, GMMG and it's pretty loud, so I may with pro flo twisters and see how it sounds. I would run a balance pipe just because it helps with scavenging and it will quiet the exhaust a little bit.

DO IT!!

Lane has said the twisters are pretty decent when you're cruisin around. Hell, my open y-pipe was pretty tame when I wasn't giving it much throttle.

hahaha I know buddy, I'm just givin you a rough time. I was going to get Lane to build me a true dual setup, but I thought about my long term goals and emissions and such, and I figured I might as well get a catback for now. Down the road I can always go to true duals and sell the GMMG. Lane is just 10 mins away from me.

haha, it's cool man, yea I would love for Lane to make me a 3" X system, but I don't want to deal with shipping and all. What Y pipe are you running now? I may have a mufflex Y with custom dual cutouts for sale soon also with the GMMG ....

There are no cutouts in it right now, but in a few weeks I will be putting two cutouts in my mufflex Y, it will look just like the QTP QTEC Y pipe, not using the flowtech style cutout. I will keep in touch with you about it.....

You can run either the Dr. Gas X or get the hedman X junction, which is just like the Dr Gas, but a little cheaper....

In his post he emphasized scavenging which is basically setting up the exhaust so that the exhaust actually gets sucks out and helps bring in a cooler charge.

There is a lot more to it but basically thats what it is. In his post he pointed out that power peaks were similar but that low end had improved by a significant amount.

The size after the X is important also. I would recommend PMing or calling Lanes and see what components/combinations he recommends for your particular setup.

I have one of Lanes X pipes with the twister mufflers. In my opinion this is the only way to go as it sounds soooooo sweet with the G5X2 cam
