Default upper panhard bar

i've heard that you dont need to run one of these if you have an aftermarket lower, is this true? if not, what type of aftermarket upper bar would i need to run duals over the axel? i dont want them to both go over the passenger side.

I can't comment on removing the upper bar, but BMR does offer a revised upper bar for over the axle duals:

Removing the upper bar will cause excess stress on the lower bar's frame bracket when making hard left turns causing the mounting flange to eventually detach.

Get the BMR upper bar.

Do a search for "upper panhard bar" in the suspension section, and you'll find it has been beat up many times. General consensus: drag racers don't seem to have a problem with it removed. GM put it there for a reason though, and could have saved a lot of money by not having one. I wouldn't risk the possible safety issue.

I have run without it for over a year with no problems. I primarily drag race though. If you do a lot of twisties then keep it or swap to the bmr one if you need clearance for exhaust.
