Default Mac mid-lengths header install

Ok, the time is near.

Give me a list for everything I might need/want for this header install.

Mac midlengths w/EGR and AIR tubes. ORY pipe

I read that I might not need O2 extensions with these?

Use stock GM gaskets? Copper gaskets? Do I need a gasket for where the ypipe and headers meet? Use stock bolts?

I'm going to delete the rear O2's...what do I do with the connectors? Do I have my tuning guy delete them first or wait until the headers are on? If I wait will the car suffer performance wise until I get it retuned?

Just trying to get an idea on everything I need. Thanks!

Hey Frosty I just finished installing my mac headers and catted y pipe tonight.10 mm gear wrench is a must.the valve cover bolts are 8mm.As for gaskets I just reused my stock ones.My car has 47xxx on it.I did a search and found all the info I needed on the install.the passenger side bolt for the coil pack bracket is probably the hardest to get off.I went for a drive after and there is a very noticeable power difference. My car is an a4 and when I would punch it at 25mph before it didnt break the tires loose, now it does.good luck

I'm not worried about the bolts and such. My buddy's shop is doing it.

It tried a search but got about 100 threads of nothing specific lol.

You dont need a gasket where the header meets the y-pipe, they have ball flanges, I re-used my stock gaskets when I did my MAC install. I didnt need o2 extensions with the Macs, but I will tell you that MAC y-pipe sucks, just my opinion though. I tucked the up rear o2 wires up and covered them with electrical tape.

I put on Flowtech long tubes and they suck, after I do the merge collector mod on the MAC's they are going back on!

Just curious..but what don't you like about the y-pipe? The merge collector? I'm about to make a header purchase myself...

I always thought that Y-pipe fits great, plus there is little clearance issues when car is lowered....

I have MACs myself waiting to be put on once it gets warmer
