Help need advice
Went outside today to start her up cause I dont take it out of the garage in the winter like most of ya's. Started up no problem pulled it out let it run for about 10 min's turned it off did some cleaning up in the garage. Now this is where my day got $hitty went to start it up and nothing but clicking, dash lights flickering, and then once i turned the key to the off position the mph and tach gauges moving like crazy. Saw that the positive battery connection was shot coroaded. Went to disconnect it to clean it off only to find out that the bolt holding it to the battery was eating threw there was just like half a bolt and saw that the battery is shot also. Did i mention I only have little over 12k miles on it and its a 2000 SS and like I said it doesnt come out in the winter, never been in rain nor drove it threw a puddle...yes im **** about my garage queen.
The battery needs to be replaced but I was told from someone that the cause of this could be from the alternator.
Now what should I do first the battery or the alternator if i do the battery first i could just burn it out again and waste a new battery. Is there a way of testing the alternator? Has any of ya's been down this road before and can help from expearance?
what to do what to do??
Thanks for any help or advice

If the car dies when you pull the battery cable, it's time for an alternator(car only needs battery power to start and will run w/out the battery).
