Default Suggestions?? Tax Time

OK tax time is here, too many options need a few suggestions. I already have long tubes, exhaust, lid and a little N20. with $1200 to spend which direction first? I make the occasional track run but most of the time its street, it is my daily driver.

#1 new TCI Super Street Fighter (I have 2.73 gears so I am leaning on 3500 stall with at least a 2.5 STR) and A HP Tuner if I get the Enhanced I/O thats about $1200.

#2 Set of 17" X 11" Gunmetal Rims (its a Pewter Convertible, good color match?) and some new rubber.

#3 new TCI Super Street Fighter, LCAs, Subframes and skip the rims and just get 2 ET Streets or drag radials for the back that fit the stock rims. (currently have BFG KDWSs and can spin those if I floor it from 20 to 30 MPH)

Any Other Suggestions?

We are having a sale on all converters from Yank Converters, free shipping to the lower 48 states and our special sale pricing! If you are leaning towards a converter.

Give us a call and we can find the right one for your application.

Thanks,

Rudy

I was in the same boat as you, i allready have the exhaust, so for me it was option # 3, went with a TCI SSF 3500 with the 2.5 str, i have 3.23 gears, also got some goodies to go with it like a b&m 24000 gvw cooler, deep trans. pan, trans temp gauge, also got some bmr lcas, phr, trq arm, and slp sfcs, also ordered some poly motor mounts. and some m/t drag radials, should reduce my et's nicely i hope, guess we'll see in a couple a months, good luck.

Tough choice between #1 and #3. If you aren't going to mod too much or any time soon in the future get #3.

Since it's a Convertable I'll say #3. that's 2 for #3.

Well, do you wanna look good or go fast? Also, what rim size do you have now? 16" is sort of the red-headed stepchild of rim sizes. You have alot of selection as far as 17" rims go, but the max width most tire manufacturers make for a 16" rim is 245. Unless you want some slicks...

Overall, I'd say go with #3!

Yes I have the stock 16"s , reason i was considering the HP Tuner was due to the fact it is a Convertible they set the speed limiters around 112 on these things, plus I am getting tired of resetting the SES light for the cat removal and also want to remove the air/egr system.. Gotta love Florida, no inspections.

Any one have other suggestions??

I'd do #3, and go get the car tuned somewhere, they can eliminate all that air crap and whatnot from the computer.

I'd hold off on the rims, I'd rather have a car that goes fast and looks average then a car that looks good and isn't that quick. The #3 you have listed... and the addition of a set of 3.42 gears in your 10 bolt would probably get you fast enough to get kicked out of every drag strip in america unless you put a cage in your car.

Hey Steve

It's Adam (white GTP), up here in Savannah. Glad to see that you went to the F-body side. I picked up a 2001 WS6 this past summer, I demodded the GTP and it's now the daily driver.

I would go for option #3. With a stall and sticky tires, your going to twist your frame pretty decently so you'll want those SFC. A 3500 stall with a 2.5 STR won't be able to hook too easily on street tires, so you'll want those drag radials. You may want to plan on getting gears down the road, the 3500 stall with 2.73's may be a little too loose for daily driving but you may get used to it.

I'm putting in a Yank SS3200 sometime in the future when I have enough for headers also so I can knock out both with one tune. My TA is pretty much stock right now, only lid and exhaust. I've only ran 3 passes at the track with it and got a 8.874@85.30 on a 2.311 short time. The car runs really rich, but I'll take care of that when I get the tune. I was just happy that it was faster then the GTP.......barely.

Cheers

I would go with #3. Get the Converter, Cooler and Nitto's. Right there you are knocking off ~1 second. I would definitely get the subframes and skip the LCA's.

Hey Dude!!!

We were wondering what ever happened to you. With St.Paddys day around the corner your name always comes up. If I decide on a HP you get your choice of 2 model years, think about throwing me some change and I may get the 2001 You need to make some plans and drag yourself down for the Gator Nationals or something.

Now I just need to hit up some sponsors and see if I can get a package deal on TC, tires and suspension.

Go with #3! Personally I would rather have a nice/average/regular Trans Am that runs strong than to look good and get smoked! So go w/ #3. With the Stall and Sticky tires that car is going to be pulling strong off the start. Good Luck! Laters!
