Default Free ram air!!

Ok. just did a free ram air mod.
I yanked out this huge peice of black plastic that was in front of the radiator (dont think i had to. but i did anyways. oh well.)
Cut the "tabs" on the bottom of the airbox connector thinggy.
Good for what, +5hp? Mabey? who cares right. small thigns add to the bigger things!!! (1-1.5 years, here i come ati! lol).
Anyways, car smells like it's running rich as hell.....normal?
Thanks i love this site!
Oh, should i reset my pcm? to relearn idle times and WOT points? (or fuel curve tables?)

DONT TAKE THAT OUT!!!! The huge black plastic I mean. That causes the correct airflow to get up into the radiator compartment.

NONONO put it back!

Yes, if it is the piece I think you mean, put it back.

hell if you want to do it right take everything out the front of the car, the windshield washer resivoir, front bumper supports, AIR system, AC condensor. everything that you can take off....How do you think people get so fast? Seriously though that big plastic panel doesn't make any difference, all of the fbodies around here don't have them and the Louisiana summers are pretty hot.

Try living down here, It has been raining off and on for about 3 weeks, and the temp has changed back and forth about 20 degrees during this.

you guys really think its alright to get rid of the airdam?

I mean if it's actually okay, then I'll get rid of it too, as I'd rather not have it than have it. I was under the impression though that it curled an almost direct flow of air up to the radiator though.

I wasn't talking about the airdam that is at the bottom of the car....no that deffintely doesn't need to come out. I was talking about that huge piece of black plastic that is attached by the little airbox and goes down infron of the radiator. That piece that mimic posted, that can go, not the hard plastic below the car.

Put it back. You only need to trim it.

Why put it back and trim it when it is not needed and easier to just take out?

Because it helps direct air towards your radiator and keep your car running cooler and keeps it from overheating. Here is what I did: put it on, looked from underneath to see where air could actually get past the front supports, etc. to get to the air lid, then I trimmed only the 1" that needed to be trimmed there and on the lower air box. It looks really nice, plus air still goes to my radiator. It doesn't weigh anything. All you need is a dremel. I actually made my initial cuts on that piece with tin snips and cleaned it up with the dremel. Don't try to snip the lower air box...the plastic is too brittle...ask me how I know. I ended up dremeling that too and smoothing it off. Looking at it you would think the car came that way. I should take some pics...

It seems that air still gets to my radiator since I have never ran hot. It really isn't nessecary to keep it, all up to the person doing it I guess.
