Ive been considering this mod for a while also. Here are my questions:

1. It looks like when you install it you need to do some modifications to the existing housing on the underside of the hood? How hard is that?

2. Can you install it in your driveway with hand tools, or something you need to go to a shop for?

3. Also, any idea of the effect it might have on a Nitrous kit? Im looking to put the car on the bottle (eventually)

Thanks in advance!

1. Drill out rivets, remove baffles. Very easy but time consuming, just go slow and be careful.

2. You need a handheld drill/screwdriver to drill rivets and install it.

3. No clue, but I don't see why it would matter.

I'd like to thank everyone for the pics and comments. This has been a really good exchange of information.

One other question... does performing the FRA mod have any effect on the installation of the BGRA?

Thanks again,
Marc

It does not affect the installation of the BGRA but will create more turbulence and you won't benefit from the BGRA.

I agree, the BGRA creates a sealed, ram air effect, so there is no point of using anything with it.

Good to know... guess that's one free mod I won't do then.

Thanks again...

The BGRA is also one of the highest quality aftermarket piece's I've installed. It looks near OEM when installed.

Good info in this thread, thanks for the pics matts22. A couple of questions. What do the nostril corner pieces do, just cleans up the install? Can I still use the stock nostril grills with this kit? Any other place to buy it besides Afterthoughts? Man it's expensive!

It is damn expensive, but I know I'm gonna end up getting one too! but, yeah the corner pieces just make it look better. As far as the stock honeycomb inserts go, someone told me awhile back that they should fit back in there. that is just hearsay though, so dont be pissed at me if I'm wrong!

Yes, you can put the honeycombs back in, but IMO it looks much meaner wide open with just the corner pieces.

I have ran it both ways. I leave the grilles in for now because I drive a lot on the highway, and I don't like leaves and stuff getting in there.

Does anyone have it with the Suncoast WS6 hood? I have that hood and the air travels through the nostrils and gets sucked in through the top of the filter unlike the OEM that gets air throught the bottom.

I would remove the grilles if i was sure that nothing would be sucked in like leaves or when it's raining it would be easier for the water to enter that area.

Looks awesome with no grilles.

Bit the bullet and ordered mine yesterday. Seems as though the price is the same no matter who sells the kit. I think I'll leave the grills in, don't want to be sucking in any leaves and/or squirrels.

I love my BGRA. I have just the corner pieces in there too. It looks meaner IMO.
