Default Hp gains on 2002 Z06

What sort of parts are best to get to bump up performance of an 02 Z06? Headers, TB, Intake, LID? What numbers will these parts net me hp wise over the stock 405? Thanks guys

thats a very broad question... what are goals for the car? whats your budget?

LG has a bitchen full exhaust set-up... headers, high flow cats and a cat back..!!!
dont know price but i heard around 25-30rwhp with that set-up....

get a new intake, LSX intake with 90mm TB, and a 228 cam w/springs....

al least with the exhaust set-up id say 365rwhp
add the LSX set-up and a tune id say 390rwhp
add a good cam 228-230 range+tune 410rwhp
add some ported LS6 heads 440rwhp!!! thats over 520 at the fly!!!!

like i said, depends on your goals and your $$$$

or you could just throw on a blower.... around 5K and make 550+ HP

FWIW my Z06 with just the zip tie mod made 374RWHP. With headers, x-pipe, vortex ram air the car made 386RWHP. These are both tuned numbers-the Z06 is very well balanced out of the box. The next mod after headers would be a cam, I went from 386 to 420 with a cam. I have seen a Z06 with just AFR's, ie stock everything except the heads make 410RWHP-now that would be a sleeper!

your car only gained 12rwhp with ALL those MODS!!! that must have cost around $700+ and you only got 12rwhp ..... wow.

If I had a Z06 I'd do these 3 mods. Kooks LT's, Borla Stinger exhaust, and a nice set of heads.

That's what I mean the Z06 is so effecient from the factory. The manifolds to the cats to the catback has all been maximinzed. The car is set up pig rich from the factory at like 11.8 to 1 at wot. There's 10 horse right there. know u can't do a cam unless you do headers, it just doen't make sense. I wouldn't say headers are a waste of money but they are expensive-BUT-when you add a cam to the headers the car really wakes up. On the other hand regular C5's usually pick up around 20 to 30 horse with headers a x-pipe and a catback. Another thing to watch out for is all these header manufactureres really downplay the stock power level of the Z06. They dyno them around 340-350 stock then after headers they make like 380. What they "forget" to tell you is they tuned the car for "max" power after the headers-if they tuned the car before the headers they could of picked up another 10-15 too.

I had an 01 and just did exhaust and air box mod with K&N's. I think those are the best things to do for the $ because everything else is so well thought out.

Had I not sold it I was going to leave the engine alone because it felt so clean and well put together and slap some nitrous for the occations that I needed it.

I agree, in hindsite I wish i left my Z alone OR was satisfid with the power or better yet never found this forum. Stock it was a sweet car-very smooth power delivery-just an all around awesome vehicle. I still love it but now it's loud and obnoxious-I could go back to stock BUT I just love all the power. Plus I don't want to get beat by new Z06's. When I can afford those I'll be buying one.

Go with the basic: Headers, Zip Tie or Vararam, Ported T-body, and a tune -that will get up 380-390 depending on the headers.

Then leave all the boards unless you crave more.

My friend has a 2002 ZO6, well two friends of mine actually. We did the vararam air, throttle body bypass, thermostat, FLP long tube headers, cant remember who the x-pipe was from, borla stinger cat-back, lowered it in the garage, TREX cam, and TNT 100-shot(hasnt sprayed yet). After those mods the car dynoed 423 rwhp through a twin disk mcleod clutch. The clutch is supposed to rob you of some hp, my guess is about 5-10hp but not really sure. He has AFR heads on the way for the car also. But with jsut those mods and not using nitrous it has been really hard to beat on the street. ZO6's love TREX, there gears and that cam go together great. You do lsoe some driveability, but its all in the name of performance. The car is running a 11.5@122 on BFG drag radials with a 1.7 60ft. Do TREX, once you hit 3000 rpms, the car turns into a rocket ship.
