May be a fake resonator, but it's a resonator nonetheless!

Just go get a $30 cutout and dont worry about a catback. The cutout will be louder than any cat-back system with a muffler cause its like running open headers.Plus when you want loud ,just uncap it or if you want quiet leave the cap on.Then you can get it at your local pep boys off the shelf.

How is it a resonator when it doesn't resonate sound? If you look inside of it, you will think, huh Haus1 is right, it's not a resonator. What was I thinking

Now that I think about it... if he did go with LM, and had the cutout after the Y pipe or I pipe, would it be louder considering the piping from the Y pipe does abffle some of the sound... I am curious if it owuld be louder with a cutout?

if ur not planning on going with headers get LM..but if ur goin wit headers get Magnaflow but I'd honestly get TSP Rumbler over Magnaflow..and it sounds sweet with headers also.

I agree, the TSP does have a resonator which compensates for the rasp of the LM.

replace the "resonator" with a pipe thats 3" in diameter and as long as it and ill bet the sound changes. a resonator doest really need any special innerworking... the sound has room to move and bounce around in the extra sized pipe that is the resonator which is what gives it its tone.

Hence, the sound "resonates".

Have you ever looked at the inside of the resonator on the Lm...

No, but I assume it's hollow? If it is hollow, air resonates in the hollow cavity which is larger in diameter than the rest of the I-pipe.

What it is the same pipe diameter as the rest of the catback but with a fatter tube on the outside. It's almost like they put on a slip-on rewsonator on top of the piping...if that makes sense.

EviLS1 knows whats up
ive heard no muffler, loudmouth, x pipe with flowmasters, and gmmg
on otherwise stock trans ams going WOT

they all sound great at idle,
(esp no muffler)
but when you open em up,
the gmmg keeps the deep sound
the rest trade it for a roar

im surprised there are other catbacks even mentioned here on ls1tech
its probably because some people bought theirs before hearing the gmmg
