When Cold, engine sputters ...
When Cold, engine sputters ... After changing plugs, my car seems to be sputtering at low rpm's until it warms up for a few minutes. Any ideas? I've thought maybe I broke a plug wire or that the plug gap should have been closer. They're TR 55's and I gapped them at .045, so, I don't think it's the gap. Also though maybe a plug wasn't tightened enough, but, I know I got them in good and snug. Maybe a coil pack going bad? 
I reseated the plug wires and it seems to be OK for now ... did same two weeks ago when I changed plugs. I think maybe I tugged too hard on the a plug wire (naturally it had to be the right rear passenger side) ... go figure ...
The coil packs are mounted inline on each side on a single rail. These rails bolt to the valve covers.

Found the problem ... strange What sounded like a spark/electrical issue turned out to be the QTEC exhaust cutout plate. I have the one for the adjustable Borla Catback and apparently, it was having a difficult time closing.
It was partially open and it must have developed enough slack or looseness to where the plate was fluttering between mostly open and partially closed. I haven't taken it off yet, however, after persistently using the switch, it FINALLY decided to close and seal completely. Once I got it to finally close, the 'sputter' went away ... what a relief. I guess it died hard and was fun enough to probably go ahead and buy a new one.
Also, it may possibly be the reason it was smoking a little black smoke at WOT ... any thoughts on this?
