Default people with dumped duals (TSP)

a few things i've noticed, and was wondering if it was normal and what its caused by.

first of all- if i'm driving along and give it a little gas, and the rpm's raise above say 5k, when i push the clutch in it makes a loud sound, the only way i can think to describe it would be a "dur" kind of noise, you would know it if you heard it. i was thinking maybe it was because of the sudden lack of pressure in the exhaust system, but i dont know for sure

second was different- when i was getting it tuned on the dyno, when he would make the pull, but once he was finishes he would let the clutch in and fire would shoot out of each tip. i was thinking that its from the extra fule accumulated from going wot to nothing, any opinions?


are these normal?

yes i know exactly what your talking about, mine used to "dur" all the time...kinda a reason i opted to change from TD's...but fire, never noticed...but possible, i just never seen my car from the rear while driving...

well i'm only about 5'8 and the dyno was about 5' off the ground, so i could see under the car pretty clearly while it was on the dyno. glad i'm not the only one with that sound. once i get my finances squared away i'm going with borla xr-1's out the rear.

The flame is ram gas combusting with the sudden open air....aka-backfire. It's usually from a good sized exhaust leak, but i think with the TD's being so non-restrictive, that it's a normal thing. That's my thoughts anyways.

yeah, upon further inspection i realized that there thw passenger header connects to the x pipe i have a leak, even with the band clamps, and i can see black exhaust marks where its been leaking. is there any type of sealent i can use in conjunction with the band clamp?

some brands of band clamps come with a gasket type sealant on the inside of the clamp. Other than that, tighten the hell out of the band clamps, or else weld the exhaust to get it from leaking

get a regular exhaust clamp and clamp the CRAP out of it, remove it and then use your band clamp as tight as possible.

I had the TSP dumped and I have never heard a .. "dur" sound. They are now out the back, maybe I will try the "dur" method when I get off of work to see if it makes that sound.

Have an exhaust shop weld 3 bolt flanges to the end of your headers and the exhaust pipes where it meets the headers. That's what I did and now my exhaust comes off with 6 bolts and is leak free!

As for the "dur" sound, mine doesn't do that.

As far as flames coming out the exhaust pipes, I'll have to ask the mustang owners about that one. They seem to get a good view of the rear of my car.

Get a set of these for your headers, don't WELD to your headers! Sorry, i meant weld the exhaust together in it's joints. Those ball and joint connectors from dr. Gas are awesome.
