Default low rumble!!

hey, wats up ya'll

With a true dual exhaust, which part of the system is responsible for the low, deep sounding rumble? The h, x pipe? or is it the turn downs?

I would like to know because i would like to get the lowest rumble out of my loudmouth and i not sure which muffler to put in there. Borla xr-1, magnaflow. I've heard some magnaflows nd they sound pretty deep.

Any borlamouth guys jump in and a few comments, that would be great. Or anyone else that might help.

I know, its a dead topic, but ive searched tons and still unsure which muffler will get the lowest, deepest rumble out of my 408 though its low already.

thanks

To begin with, you started with asking about true duals, are you wanting true dual or stay with the loudmouth. True duals with an x pipe will be much deeper than a y pipe IMO.

anyone, basically, i would like to hear your opinions on wat muffler i should replace the reso in my loudmouth. I asked about the true duals because they seem to have a low rumble and that is wat i would like, a nice (i dont mind the loudness) deep sounding rumble at idle...after that, well i dont care......

thanks...

Also, has anyone used a SLP bullet in their exhaust yet?

Search for borlamouth or dynomouth and you'll see every opinion imaginable.

I don't think you're going to get that TD rumble with a single/stock style exhaust. The stock style crossover mufflers like a Magnaflow can rumble a little.

Personally I dont like the idea of crossflow mufflers. I would say best "rumble" would be a 10 series flowmaster, 40 series flowmaster, hooker aerochamber, sweet thunder maybe? any kinda chambered muffler rather than flow through.

There's science in there somewhere, with sound waves colliding and cancelling each other, blah, blah, blah.

If you want the deepest sounding exhaust you can get, then TD's with 1-chamber flowmasters are your best bet, I have 'em and cant idle through a parking lot without setting off alarms.
p.s. hope you can live with some resonation though

You're best bet is a chambered style muffler to get that "TD rumble"

chambered muffler? so nothing with a straight through design.....

flowmaster, hooker?

I wouldnt want to loose to much of the volume of the exhaust but just something like a loudmouth with stock manifold/cats, with a deep tone.

THe chambered muffler sounds like a good i dea but ive never seen it done, so i wouldnt know which one would fit...hmmm im gonna check this out...

anyone else?

thanks ya'll!

that's why i recommended a chambered style muffler. There's more than this style muffler out there. But, they're pretty much all the same.

so how about a series 40 flowmaster? i would like that old school deep rumble without the boat, out-board motor sound.

Just went down to the shop where im gettng my tires put in and i started it and wow, that exhaust is freaking loud!!!! if im standing close to the motor, its sounds great, but when im infront of the pipes, forget it. I never thought i would say this about my loudmouth but it just doesnt sound refined at all.

so wat do you think. 3-chamber or single chamber?

since he 40 series is a three camber muffler, how much volume will i loose by going with this muffler. I dont want something thats like stock, maybe something like a loudmouth, with stock mani/cats but with the low rumble....

would that straight chambered muffler reduce alot of yolume or less than the 40 flowmaster?

40 series is a 2 chamber, not 3. but the 1 chamber is probably more of what you are looking for. but if it were me, i think the hooker aerochambers sound much better on a built ls1.
