what do you think? I like the airbox and all, but I think I like the FIPK better.

I have one and I really like it. There are no issues with improper sealing like others have reported with their lids. And it certainly does look nice! You can't tell in any of the online pictures but the air filter trim in the front and back that looks like black plastic is actually REAL Carbon Fiber not like the simulated CF that some lids have.

good good thanks for the input I appreciate it. I like the look of the FIPK better, takes up less room, and as I understand has more surface area for air intake. I guess it makes the FRA mod obsolete though, right? The only applicable ram air application for FIPK would be UltraZ I assume, which is a moot point since I'm gettin the Sunoco hood whever its ready.

Also does the FIPK rub on the Z28 hood?

I've read a lot about that too. Especially with the non ram air hoods people say it looses HP. Anyone have dyno experiences with both?

i dont think a dyno will tell the truth... because it seems like to me the ram air hood and the FIPK will shine on the track do to the air being forced in the hood vent... a mere fan wouldn't show on the dyno as well...

Im just guessing... if someone knows for a fact please chime in.

fipk isn't gonna lose power with the hood closed on a t/a, the opening is RIGHT THERE....especially with a ram air, x!baffles.

and yes, the fipk is a high quality piece, the carbon fiber is a really nice touch, and the bellows add a nice continuity to the whole intake tract imo.

I love mine and it does not rub on the hood at all. I get several positive comments on it all the time at car shows.

I have it plus the FTRA. I just cut the bottom of the plate that you get with the FIPK. I like the look but not sure about the power loss. My old lid expired with a nitrous backfire so I replaced it with the FIPK. I never saw a difference at the track.

Don't you have a clear MTI lid? If I knew you were going to swap I would have bought yours instead of placing my order for new one today. I like the CLEAR lid for sure!

NO!!! The FIPK might dyno higher but a lid with a ram air system will work better while driving the car. FIPK works decent but the only real reason I would buy it is for looks.

I got the FIPK with my mecham hood and love it. It also did not rub on my stock Z hood nor with the mecham. For looks and performance i think its the only way to go/
