Default Odd oil pressure reading after Mac Header install

I've noticed that my oil pressure isn't reading as high as it did before I installed my headers...I haven't noticed an oil leaking so I don't think I broke my oil sending unit. My oil pressure has never been 40 at idle and usually runs around 60-70 all the time. Now it seems to be jumpy at idle 35-45 but when I stomp on it, 60-70. Thanks in advance for your help!

Old oil? Could also be the headers are heating up the oil since they are closer to the filter/ pan area.

I don't thinkg the oil even has 3000 on it and it's mobil 1 5w30. I'm also noticing that the starter is dragging after running a while..I assume this is the heat from the headers...Does anyone use a heat shield for their starter?

I haven't noticed any difference. Are your headers coated?

I made one for mine.

Did it at the same time as the v6 to v8 swap, which was when I did the heads/cam/intake/headers too...

No heat shield for my starter and it works fine every time. Sounds like your starter might be on its way out .

The thing is that it was just fine before I installed the headers..Everything is acting funky now...I should have just left it alone!

Do you have a picture of the headers? If they are flat gray then I don't think they're coated. I bought a set (new) that are coated and they have a chrome like finish.

60-70 all the time isn't normal.

If its 35-45(warm) at idle and raises with rpm to 70 or so is perfectly normal. Perhaps you fixed the sensor and didn't even know it.

I just finished changing the oil. I went with German Castrol 0w30 and a K&N HP2600 filter. Oil pressure is back to normal (for my car)! The starter isn't acting up anymore either. I think my car was just having a bad day or something????
